Nashville, Tenn. - Today, the Tennessee Department of Health Commissioner Kenneth S. Robinson, MD, voiced his support of water fluoridation following a public forum on the subject in Nashville. The event was organized to allow interested parties the opportunity to voice opinions on the matter.
"The Tennessee Department of Health is steadfast in its support of water fluoridation for the citizens of Tennessee," said Commissioner Robinson. "Water fluoridation is safe, effective and has proven results. It is a valuable tool in addressing dental health disparities, and it offers benefits to all citizens of a community regardless of their socioeconomic status and age."
In January of this year, the Center for Disease Control and the American Dental Association acknowledged the 60th year of community water fluoridation, citing it as one of the 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century.
