Salmonella Montevideo Outbreak

Tennessee has four possible cases associated with the multi-state outbreak of Salmonella serotype Montevideo illnesses. Among those interviewed, two people were hospitalized and all have recovered. The investigation is ongoing.

A total of more than 1,240,000 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) varieties of Italian sausage products have been recalled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. This includes salami/salame, in commerce and potentially available to customers in retail locations.
