Days spent hiking with family make physical activity fun!

Check out TN State Parks for family fun! A fun filled camping trip can bring the family together and get everyone active! Check out a state park near you!

The first thing to remember is that children don't understand or know the dangers of a trail that might seem the most basic of realities to anyone else. Poison ivy or oak, snakes and wild animals seem fun to the youngest of hikers. We need to make sure that children stay out of harms way by teaching them to stay on the trail and close to supervising adults.

Collecting firewood for the camp fire can be fun... make it more active by turning it into a race! See how quick the firewood can be gathered.
Pickett State Park in Pickett County, Tennessee offers miles of trails with beautiful scenery.

Know that a good first aid kit with Band-Aids, ointment and insect repellant is always a good idea. There is no reason to let an entire hike go badly just because someone fell down. If your crew is young enough, diapers and a change or two of clothing is also well worth the effort.

... and then sit back by the fire and enjoy some family time. Remember, take lots of pictures...these are memories that you will want to look back on for a a long time!
