- Popluations of Color in Tennessee: Health Status Report
The Populations of Color, Health Status Report details the demographics of the state, and the mortality rates, causes of death, birth-related indicators, financial indicators, ad the risk and disease disparities evident withing these populations of color. This report is the Department's second comprehensive report that focuses exclusively on the health of people of color (i.e., racial and ethnic minorities). The first report, Narrowing the Gap, was published nearly 10 years ago in 1997. Unlike the first report, Populations of Color in Tennessee Health Status Report incorporates input from community stakeholders across the state.
- HIV/AIDS Resource Directory
The HIV/AIDS Resource Directory is developed and disseminated in an effort to assist individuals in accessing information concerning HIV/AIDS and other STDs (STIs), various programs and agencies that provided education, intervention and care services, Health departments and community and faith based organizations and other service providers are included in the directory. The directory is designed to facilitate access to care for those infected and also serve as a guide for health care professionals to make appropriate referrals to community-based and faith-based organziations, health departments and other agencies with programs that benefit those with HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases or infections.
- Narrowing the Gap
Narrowing the Gap is a report published by the Tennessee Department of Health, Division of Assessment and Planning through the Office of Minority Health on the health status of minorities in Tennessee. The report provides available information specific to racial and gender groups in the state.
It also includes a data comparison of minorities in areas of chronic diseases based on the Special Population Objectives of the Healthy People 2000 report of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
- Minority Health Resource Directory
The Office of Minority Health compiles a database of organizations and agencies that provide health related services to the citizens of Tennessee. These services may target specific minority groups, may be minority based or be of general population use but of assistance or interest to minorities.
Inclusion in the database is for informational purposes only and does not denote promotion by the Office of Minority Health, Department of Health or State of Tennessee

- Internship Opportunities
The Division of Minority Health and Disparity Elimination provides undergraduate and graduate students field study opportunities in public health issues in the following program areas: health care and issue advocacy, community development, and social work for public services. Practicum and internship requirements can be met through task oriented work and resource development in working with community-based organizations, and health initiatives at the local, statewide or federal level. Student participants have been enrollees at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville and Nashville), Tennessee State University (Nashville), Meharry Medical College (Nashville) and University of Kentucky (Louisville).
